I have this same FP (mine is a Valor G4 Insert) and Remote.. How did you you record 'On'? At least on mine its actually a combination of two button presses ('off'+'flame up') and it lights the pilot and turns on to max.. similarly 'off' actually turns off the fireplace and pilot.
When I got mine installed they recommend during winter that the pilot stay on, so rather than off I would want off to be 0.
The remote also support 'double-tapping' flame up and down to go to min and max in one command (beep on the fireplace). Were you able to record that somehow?
That was my next question, and it might be more to do with the plugin, but how does it know how to modulate to a percentage. It seems to be state aware.
I didn't count the beeps but I assume that a flame up and flame down push is 10% so when you set it to 50% it sends 5 'flame up' button pushes in a row (if it was at 0%). Which leads to anorther question, how does it know its current state. If you were already at 100% you would want 5 down pushes to get to 50%, not 5 up pushes.
